Embracing what's important
Well, to put it mildly, it doesn’t quite seem like the holidays this year. Sadness and uncertainty abound and there’s not much Christmas lights can do about it. Heartrending tragedies in Los Angeles and in Australia, U.S. military aggression in the Caribbean, our health care system seemingly going down the tubes, political discord and distrust, all of it presided over by a God smacking, lying, bullying, aging, evil narcissist. What can one do but hold it at arm’s length as best one can and focus on the positive, on friends, family, and holiday traditions. It ain’t easy. Too often one finds oneself caught up in a mood, one of impatience, one of annoyance, too easily taken aback by trivial things, lines at the grocery store, rush hour traffic, constant spam calls on the silly cell phone. Well, enough. Time to move forward. Time to put it aside. Time to turn off the phone and step away from the computer. Time to hold out a helping hand and embrace what’s important. Each other.
Wishing you happy holidays .
